WiFi 7 Frequencies Are You Ready?

Summary of Blog: 7 Min. Read focusing on: WiFi 7: The Future of Wireless

Connectivity - Pros, Cons, and Compatibility with 4G and 5G

Online On My Own Timeline in the US June 7, 2025 -Great news! There's a new speed and town, so no longer do you have to be down. As in slow downloading speeds. This new wifi 7 frequencies, that is available in; the United States, Australia and parts of Europe. This is the year it rolls out and coming soon worldwide.

Now, Travels Who Travel will always need a strong wifi connection, no matter if,  we or you are traveling, or if your a digital nomad, during a business trip, or your simply on vacation. The world of wireless connectivity is evolving at a rapid pace, and WiFi 7 is the latest milestone in this journey.

Promising faster speeds, lower latency, and improved efficiency, WiFi 7 is set to revolutionize our digital experiences. In this article, we'll explore the pros and cons of WiFi 7, its current status, future prospects, and how it interacts with 4G and 5G networks.

Here are the pros and cons of WiFi 7, as we know of it in this year of 2025:

The Pros

1. Blazing Fast Speeds: WiFi 7, also known as 802.11be, offers theoretical maximum speeds of up to 30 Gbps, which is more than three times faster than WiFi 6. This means quicker downloads, smoother streaming, and lag-free gaming.

2. Lower Latency: With features like Coordinated Multi-User MIMO (CMU-MIMO) and Enhanced Multi-User MIMO (EMU-MIMO), WiFi 7 significantly reduces latency, making it ideal for real-time applications like virtual reality, augmented reality, and online gaming.

3. Improved Efficiency: WiFi 7 introduces 320 MHz channels and 4096-QAM, allowing more data to be transmitted simultaneously. This results in better spectral efficiency and improved performance in congested areas.

4. Better Interference Mitigation: WiFi 7's improved interference mitigation capabilities ensure a more stable and reliable connection, even in environments with multiple networks and devices.

Here comes the cons, which are not all cons. But with everything in life, it is what it is:

 The Cons

1. Limited Availability: As a nascent technology, WiFi 7 devices and routers are not yet widely available. Some are see photo below. It will take some time for manufacturers to adopt the new standard and for consumers to upgrade their devices.

2. Higher Cost: Early adopters of WiFi 7 can expect to pay a premium for compatible devices and routers. However, prices should decrease as the technology becomes more mainstream. The price of Tp-link router is at a fair price(see photo below).

3. Reduced Range: The higher frequencies used by WiFi 7 can result in a reduced range compared to previous WiFi standards. This may require users to invest in additional access points or mesh networking solutions to ensure adequate coverage.

WiFi 7: Where Are We Now and What's Next?

As of now, WiFi 7 just began rolling out in the fourth quarter of 2024(They initially started it in 2021) this is still new. The IEEE 802.11be task group is working on finalizing the standard, with an expected release date of late 2024. In the meantime, some manufacturers have already started developing WiFi 7 compatible devices and routers, with limited availability in the market. Look at this beauty. It's TP-Link's Archer BE19000 Tri Band Wifi 7.

This is for the home. I will not travel with it of course. It's nicely price to at Best buy for $379.00. I have no affiliation with this product, I just enjoy the sleek design and the power of this router.

In the coming years, we can expect WiFi 7 to gain traction and eventually become the new norm for wireless connectivity. As more devices adopt the standard, users will benefit from faster speeds, lower latency, and improved efficiency.

Now, moving onto how, WiFi 7 and Cellular Networks has a complementary relationship. The reason I am sited about WiFi 7; is its designed to complement, rather than replace, cellular networks like 4G and 5G. And all you gamers out there, your never going to leave the house with this wifi 7 frequency. Here's how they work together:

1. Seamless Handover: Modern smartphones and devices can seamlessly switch between WiFi and cellular networks, ensuring a stable and uninterrupted connection. WiFi 7's lower latency and faster speeds make this handover process even smoother.

2. Offloading: Cellular networks can offload traffic onto WiFi networks to alleviate congestion and improve overall performance. WiFi 7's improved efficiency and capacity make it an ideal candidate for offloading, particularly in high-density areas.

3. Convergence: The boundaries between WiFi and cellular networks are becoming increasingly blurred. Technologies like LTE-Unlicensed (LTE-U) and MulteFire allow cellular networks to operate in unlicensed spectrum, while WiFi networks can leverage licensed spectrum through technologies like Licensed Assisted Access (LAA). WiFi 7's advanced features and capabilities will further facilitate this convergence, enabling more efficient and flexible use of spectrum.

WiFi 7 is poised to transform the wireless connectivity landscape, offering faster speeds, lower latency, and improved efficiency. While there are still challenges to overcome, such as limited availability and higher costs, the future looks promising for this nascent technology. As WiFi 7 devices and routers become more widespread, users can expect to enjoy enhanced digital experiences, both at home and on the go. Heavy on the go for us travelers who travel.

Furthermore, WiFi 7's complementary relationship with 4G and 5G networks will pave the way for a more connected and seamless wireless future.

Happy Travels!
